5th Day of New boy Jack

Dec 8, 2011 is the 5th day of Jack in the programme.

Jack has not yet been properly diagnosed and labeled by the psychologist or occupational therapist despite he has been refered to them.

I have been observing him for 5 days in the centre. He showed a behavior of repeated patterns and was obsessive to certain toys.

Today I managed to break the repeated pattern. Yesterday I told Jack it is not good to repeat such patterns and he remembered it today and stopped doing it. It appears he is more aware of what he is doing. His is also less obsessive to his particular toy.

I take away his obsessive toy and do other activities with him. He is now able to focus in learning for about 40 min and his reading has also improved.

Photo Gallery

Dear Visitors to my webpage.

Photos are memories of life. Over the years of working with children, I have taken many photos of the children’s development at varies stages of their life when they are at my centre.

I apologize for not putting many photos for viewing. This is due to the privacy of the child and the family.

I thank the parents who have shown confidence in my skills to develop their children. I am grateful to say some of my ex-students at Active Mind Child Development Centre have also represented their schools in story-telling competitions. Some have won the best news reading awards in their school.

My Best wishes to all my ex students and also prospective students

Active Mind Child Development Centre look forward to your participation in the programmes.

New boy in AMCDC: Jack

For privacy reasons, I  have given the boy the nickname of Jack.

December 1, 2011 marked a new journey in my intervention programme for children with special needs.

Today Jack, a new boy age 5, joined the programme. Jack was in another preschool for two years.

However he was not able to develop reading skills and concentration/focus skill. I also notice Jack’s lack of eye contact to other people or the material he is working on. He also doesn’t have the proper posture when writing.

It seems to me I have to start the brain engine/power of the boy from zero onward. It is important to lay a proper foundation to Jack before I deliver further skill to him.

The first days I will also further observe him and make a proper functional diagnosis. That will help in providing the best remedies for jack

Athen

My son, Athen age 5 was enrolled to Active Mind Child Development Centre (AMCDC) in Jan 2011 after spending a year in a renowned franchised kindergarten that failed to identity the cause of his dislike for writing.

His disorder was diagnosed as weakness in his fine motor skills. Intervention programme was subsequently introduced to overcome this with results seen within a short period of three months.

Today Athen is a happy 5 years old pre-schooler who longs to attend school every morning. AMCDC’s emphasis on holistic education had certainly transformed my son into a disciplined and outgoing child.

My advice to parents is “brand and size need not always associate with quality”. It is important to identify a preschool that has the passion to develop young children and has the rebound therapy and occupational therapy experience to introduce timely intervention for learning disorders which are common among many school going children.

I believe that Active Mind Child Development Centre has these qualities to develop your child in his /her formative years.

Farisya

I wish to express my sincere thanks to Active Mind Child Development Centre.

My daughter Farisya (6 years old) attended Active Mind since March 2011 when she had no skills at all and she had no will to learn.

I am happy to say that after a course at Active Mind, she is now able to read and understand, both English and Bahasa Malaysia. She has also acquired the skill of Mathematics. Being the first year in learning centre, I am proud of my daughter. Active Mind also build good ‘self-confidence’ in Farisya.

With the education that she got here in Active Mind, I am confident Farisya is so much more ready for her primary school next year. Thank you, Minda Aktif.
