Jonah-first met up

Jonah

June. A family of four came to see me for evaluation for a boy age 3plus. Grandparents and boy’s parents came along. I show a deep respect to the grandparents who did not take thing for granted. They begin realized the grandson has development issue. They seek help. Many people is the society live in denied. They think when child is able to talk, they may not have issue in development.

I notice the boy name Jonah did not aware of the people surrounding him. Jonah even did not aware who are his parents.

Jonah has delay,

  • cognitive development
  • speech and communication processing
  • social emotional
  • attention
  • self help skill

After the evaluation the grandparent and parents purposely leave him with me. Jonah has no response when they leave him with me. Jonah just accept it to be with me. Is this response is positive or negative? It depends on how we as adult look at it.

Shin-star

In each year I will revisit the first time I met my boys and girls that I work.

Shin has an observance mother. She has instrumental update me of his development weekly after an hour therapy with me. Despite of limited verbal, Shin invents his own communication tools with his mom. I thought he is brilliant. His mom also able to understand him better. Prior all this development, Shin has no expression, he can’t understand language, but now he is able to understand when we talk to him. He now able to call his mother is mama, father is papa, when he want to eat he will said mun mun(in Chinese it mean eat).

School break- for the past school break, if Shin’s other sibling come to stay with him, he will felt cranky, uneasy, jealous. However in this November / December school break, the sibling came to stay with him, he no longer cranky, he begin to look for his brothers to play with him.

Self help skill- Shin begins to feed himself, compare to past month, he yet to be able to spoon to feed himself. Lately if he wants to pass urine, he will feel uneasy to pass on dryper, his mom has to take him to toilet to release it. All this development is the foundation of a child development for next level development.

Carol- hope

Time don’t wait for us. The child just growth too fast. Many said once we miss the development milestone, we won’t able to get it back. Is that true?

Apart from work I enjoyed take photo for the young child. I knew photos are great memory in life.

This final quarter I work with a girl age 4 by name : carol(nick name) Carol yet to walk, she can’t stand by herself, her right hand has no strength, finger also no strength. Amazing in the assessment the grandparent can see a change in Carol.

Feedback received after the forth hours of therapy.(an hour per week)

Grandparent and her mother said Carol is more positive and initiative, She also begin to stand up.  After stand she begin to walk few steps for a start. Each improvement of the child I work is a great joy to me. I can’t help the whole world but at least I can help a child to have better quality of life.

Yee Yee normalise

Time just past by so fast our little once just growth up so quick, has their age match with their soul, spirit, physical and age in development.?

Yee Yee is such an amazing girl, each time I revisit the first day I met her in my centre, she is without any skills, she even did not response to her parents call. She was diagnosed with autism. I guess when her mom first hear autism. Her world no longer so brighten.  All I know she has to improve as I work in the therapeutic. Yee Yee has a sacrificial mother, I can see the amount of hard work and sacrifices she made for the past 4 years has in return with a life long harvest.

As for now Yee Yee has improved tremendously, I could said she is so call normalize child. To cut my story short.

She is now able to read, to count, to write, to sing, to dance, to socialise to follow instructions  and to comprehend language. She also has self help skill with a compassion heart. One day I cut my finger, I show her.

Below is our conversation.

Me: Yee Yee don’t touch my finger.

Yee Yee : show me show me, why?

Me: I injured my finger, (I show her my finger)

Yee Yee : do you need help ?

Me: Thank you , Is ok still can manage

In our society , many of our children are lacking of compassion heart. What make them lack of compassion heart? Guess we have to rethink what went wrong in our learning system.

YEAR 2019.

Time just past by too fast . I have not been update any articles, spending most of my time in revise all the modules of studies I have took up for the past years.

Over the 10 years hand on working with child with various learning challenges has taught me to discover new way to develop them.   Seeing them improve from my therapy modules is the greatest joy that money can’t purchase.

I ask myself what is the criteria for the diagnosis of ADHD

Six or more symptom of inability to sustain attention.

  • Cant sustain attention whilst performing a task (short attention) and easily distracted.
  • Often starts a task in rush but has difficulty in finishing it.
  • Makes careless mistakes in school work.
  • Doesn’t listen –for example ignored the formality of class or teacher’s social requests.
  • Can’t organize task
  • Avoids schoolwork
  • Loses things
  • Is always forgetful

Six or more symptom of hyperactivity or impulsivity .

  • Fidgeting or squirming
  • Keep leaving seat in class
  • On the go-runs around or climbs excessively ignorant of danger
  • Can not play  quietly, silly noise making
  • Talk excessively
  • Blurts out answers
  • Has difficulties in waiting for anything
  • Often interrupts or intrudes into the action of others
  • Pleased  to get negative attention
  • Class clown

For the diagnosis to be made the symptoms must have been present before the age of 7 years old. (symptoms are often present by age 3

Children with ADHD often have emotion difficulties such as moodiness, depression and irritability. The often have low frustration threshold, bad temper, are emotionally labile and have poor self image. Some often show aggressive and defiant  behavior which is hostile and confrontational.

When children are stressed, they cannot verbalise and express their emotions as well as we can , so it will come out in behavioral problems.

Rui-Rui-super brain

Time just pass by so fast.

I have been working with RUI RUI, he is a smart boy. He has amazing brain, he is able to pick up reading faster than the so call normal children with speech/ communication.

RUI RUI join me with no reading ability, not even know who is his parent, no verbal. However I am thankful, now he is able to pick up reading. He is able to recognize to read words very fast, by just introduce one or two time he is able to recall. Eg words like, sunny day, raining day, Can a child read first then only have speech? To many expert, they said no. As for me I have come across few children, they develop reading ability first then only they begin their communication speech.

I always believe when a child’s reflexes are fully integrated with touch by God healing with take place hoslitic. Then follow up by the right therapy. Over the years i have cases went into mainstream without any shadow aids teacher.

As for RUI RUI, I am working on his ability to have hand fine motor pattern to support of motor abilities. I have also notice many young children develop the wrong patter of grip pencil.

Qaps- shine

Sept 2019

My first hour with Qaps start with slow and fun. Instead of by stress, i option to be his friend. We start the lesson for an hour, the tactile touch is to prepare Qaps for deeper therapy.

After the first hour therapy: feedback from his mom who is a medical doctor said “Qaps begin to eat rice (solid food) . Before therapy he don’t eat rice. Qaps not just ate, he feed himself. He acquire independent skill. He is not just eating, he is able to beside his father who is watching television for a while. In my opinion, weather Qaps understanding what is air in the television or not is not important. The focus is he begin to engage his father. This I will said is the beginning of social skill. Many child with learning challenges they have issue in social skills. Some are not aware of the environment around them.

Silent.

I have been silent and slow down with my blog update. I am not a person who is good to pen down what is in my thought and the journey to work with children with learning challenges. Now I have to keep update my news.

Regret to inform that the friend who helped me to write this webpage has lost contact. Hence my webpage remain the same except the blog new which i can update.

I holds a believe that if a child is not deaf, the child will have speech. This believed be come a reality. The boy who i work with is age 10 now he begin to have verbal, he begin to recorgnised word, he is able to understand instruction, an organised boy too. I saw the smile of his father when he call his father “papa bye bye” . I did not realised the word “papa” is such meaningful word to a father. There is a hope is every child, if family find the right therapist.

This boy is not just improve in his speech, his cognitive , his addict to tablet also disappear. His behaviour also be transformed. i have not really update about this boy. I will update about him as i begin to write about my work with children since 2005.

Jxian.grade 6

Aug, 2019

Time really passed by so fast. JXian now is in grade six. Though he has left the centre for 5 years. His parents and i still keep in touch with each others. His mom constant update me on his development. Down deep in my heart i felt thankful for this family trust my knowledge, experience, skill in child development. Guess what i get in return of all this update? His mom sent me his recent exam result.

Remember at the age of 7 years, JXian was not able to read, to write, to count. He spent three years in my centre with me. At the age of 10 he went to study in grade one. He was promoted from grade 3 to grade 5 too. His development is rather a miracle to me. Guess what he score in his grade 6 mid year exam? He manage to score 3.08 out of 4 mark (total).

I encourage him to pursue to grade 7, though certain people don’t think he is able to cope. We shall see what will be the next news from is mother.

Qaps

Aug, 2019

I have a new assessment for a boy age 5 plus. According to his mom who is a medical doctor. Mom said he has a speech delay, he is nothing taking solid food. An hour plus with them really give me a shock. The boy just took my learning material and lays on the table . He is not engaging with the material. I did not stop him, i did not scold him.

He may see as ADHD child. How ever before he leave my place. I did gave a touch on him. It was amazing that after the touch, he has awareness, he begin to seek his mom’s consent before he take other learning material. His mom also saw as different in him. let us see what will be his next miracle. Well in each improvement of a child, i call is as a miracle from God. Without God’s touch there will not have healing.
